Reasons Why Your Snipe Was Canceled

First make sure that your eBay user name and password are entered correctly in the options window.

Snipes are canceled when the current bid exceeds your snipe bid. Also, remember if someone has already bid on an auction, your bid must be greater than the current bid plus the bid increment. For example, if an auction has a bid of $4.00, the bid increment at $4.00 is .50 so you must bid at least $4.50 to have a valid bid.

Snipes are canceled if someone uses it Buy It Now to end the auction early.

If Auction Chief reports that the auction has ended before it could bid, you should try increasing the "Snipe an auction when there's x seconds left in an auction" option on the options window to give Auction Chief more time to bid. If you have a slow machine or a slow Internet connection, you should consider not using your computer during the last few seconds of a snipe. You should especially avoid programs that use your Internet connection, like file downloads, Internet games or web browsing because these could effect how long it takes Auction Chief to place a bid on your behalf.

Very rarely the eBay web site is down and when this occurs, Auction Chief can't snipe.

Finally, Auction Chief is sensitive to eBay changing the format of their web pages. If something doesn't look right or if Auction Chief repeatedly reports that it can find a bid url or an accept bid url, first make sure you have the latest version of Auction Chief. If you do, send the author your cancel.txt and cancel.dat files from your Auction Chief directory at achief@texas.net
