Sniping

Sniping is biding on an auction at the last second. Auction Chief provides three options for sniping. You can snipe using Auction Chief running on your computer, you can snipe using AuctionStealer, an online snipe service or you can use both at the same time. You can set up how you would like to snipe in the snipe section of the Options window.

If you plan to use Auction Chief running on your computer to snipe, you must first set your eBay user name and password and the Begin snipe mode and snipe time on the in the snipe section of the Options window.

Setting Up a Snipe

To set up a snipe, click on the bid price of an auction on the Main Screen. The snipe set up screen looks like this.

If this is a Dutch auction, you may set the quantity. Select the price that you would like Auction Chief to bid for you and click on Enable This Snipe.

Canceling a Snipe

To cancel a snipe, click on the auction's bid price and click on Cancel This Snipe.

Using Auction Chief Running On Your Computer To Snipe

For Auction Chief's snipping feature to work properly you must be running Auction Chief and be connected to the Internet.

When there's Begin snipe mode when there's x minutes left in an auction, Auction Chief goes into snipe mode and begins updating the auction around once a minute. While in snipe mode, most Auction Chief features as disabled so that they won't interfere with Auction Chief bidding on your behalf.

When there's Snipe an auction when there's x seconds left in an auction, Auction Chief will send a bid on your behalf to eBay.

If the item's bid price ever exceeds your snipe price, your snipe will be canceled.

Don't forget the bid increment when you consider your snipe price. If you're bidding on an auction that has a bid of $4.00 and no one has bid on it yet, you can bid $4.00. But if someone has a bid of $4.00 your snipe price has to be at least $4.50 because the bid increment for $4.00 is $0.50.

Using AuctionStealer To Snipe

Before using AuctionStealer, you need to set up an AuctionStealer account. If you set your AuctionStealer email address and password in the snipe section of the Options window, Auction Chief will automatically log you in to AuctionStealer.

After you set up a snipe, Auction Chief will switch to the Browse Screen and display the snipe's information on AuctionStealer's web site. Click on the Save Item button to activate the snipe.

If you cancel a snipe, Auction Chief will switch to the Browse Screen and display the snipe's information on AuctionStealer's web site. Click on the Cancel Selected button to cancel the snipe.
